MR AND MRS UPTON

I love photographing weddings!
Especially those of people I love and know closely. Jacob and I were so excited for, his mother, Judy's wedding!
We are so thankful for her husband Dale and the loving man he is!
Every wedding day is magical! On this day, since Jacob got to do their flowers, we started bright and early at Dale's home, where Judy would soon live too. Each detail was carefully picked and lovingly adorned.
I met Judy many years ago, probably when I was in 5th or 6th grade at church camp. She was funny, confident, and subtly loving and nurturing in a way that wasn't obvious. She knew how to love the kids that were more rough around the edges.
As I grew up, so did my relationship with Judy. At first she was just my friend's mom, but also a woman I looked up to. Eventually, while I was in college, she became my boyfriend's mom and a friend. Then, there was a period of time when Jacob and I were no longer dating. We both needed time to figure things out. I was heartbroken, and the longer time I spent not with Jacob, the more concerned I became that I had lost him forever. I began reaching out to Judy more regularly to check on him. We finally got back together after much prayer and self-discovery and we knew it was love. Judy was right along side us the whole way, quietly and subtly cheering us on in the way that she does.
Judy possess a beauty that knows no time. She has always been an incredible friend and mother. She always has an ear to hear, and although we seem to test her often, her love and patience for her children, including those of us married in, never runs dry. She helps steer us in a wise direction without telling us what to do. She swats us across the head when we need it and will let us cry on our shoulder when life proves too much.
She is an incredible Nana to her grandchildren and loves her additional grandchildren as well that she has been blessed with through her marriage to Dale.
I met Dale for the first time in Judy's kitchen when he was visiting one day. I had heard wonderful things about him from Judy and how he did hopelessly romantic things and how he possessed qualities she deeply loved. However, if I'm being honest, the first time Jacob and I met him, it was kind of strange. I mean, what do you say to this guy? You like him based on what you've heard, but how do you create a relationship with him and get to know him further?
So me being the curious and outgoing, break-the-ice kind of gal that I am, jumped right in, and pretended I didn't feel like a total dork or annoyance. If you know me very well, you know I'm not afraid to ask questions. So I asked him different questions about his job, his kids, and what he did for fun outside of work. He would also ask questions that we would openly answer. Needless today, the awkward first time meeting was a breeze.
Dale quickly became a welcome friend in our family. He is one of the sweetest, most respectful, hardworking, loving, and giving men I know. Not to mention he's pretty handsome! It was truly amazing getting to see how well his personality complimented Judy and how she seemed to fit so well with him.
Watching Dale love his family and accept us as a part of his, has been a treasure and time spent with he and Judy is always time well spent.
As Dale prepared for the ceremony and as he got ready, he was excited and maybe a little nervous! He was excited to see his lovely bride as she came down the isle and nervous because he wanted everything to be perfect for her.
On Judy's wedding day, as she was getting ready and before she joined Dale at the altar, she was filled with such a joy and excitement. It was contagious! We were happy to be a part of something so memorable, a joy so true.
Each of her three sons took a turn walking Judy down the isle, taking their turn in "giving her away."
I remember the way she got teary when she joined Dale at the altar and how as they exchanged vows of love and commitment, she bent her knee to keep from crying again. There was brief moment of comical relief when a small bee tried to land on Dale's boutineer. Dale's son, Kyle, officiated the service and did a lovely job. Dale and Judy were blessed to be surrounded by such love of their families.
Though the ceremony may have only lasted six minutes, it was the beginning of a new beautiful chapter of their lives, of all of our lives.
Judy and Dale had cupcakes and sweet tea at their wedding.
Guys, we got to stop and take a moment to talk about these cupcakes. If you have never had a Gigi's Cupcake in your life, stop what you're doing and go get right with your taste buds. These are the most amazing, moist, and delicious cupcakes I have ever eaten in my life. You won't be left wanting for frosting, but let me say this too, you won't feel the need to scrape it off either! Little pieces of heaven in a hand held cake.
This wedding was one of the first small weddings I've attended and it's amazing how it feels just as big. Love and laughter all around!
We were so excited that Dale's mother and Judy's mom, dad and sister were also able to attend the special occasion.
I drew a family tree for Judy and Dale and we had each child, their spouses, grandchildren, and parents put their finger print on the tree. At the end of the reception we presented the gift to them and they added their finger prints as well.
Dale and Judy then signed their Marriage License with their mom's at their witnesses. Soon they were eager to head off to the park for some alone time!
The park was small and quiet and it was perfect!
Judy has found a safe place for her heart to rest and love and we are so thankful Dale.
We are excited to see where God takes them on their own journey for many many years to come!

Michael & Rhiannon - A Hogwarts Inspired Wedding

Michael and Rhiannon met in high school and began dating the summer after her senior year and ended up going to college in the same town. They just clicked and say it's been awesome ever since! In fact, their wedding day, August 11th, 2018, is one day short of a six year dating anniversary for them! After their fifth dating anniversary, Rhiannon told Michael flat out that they were going to get married August 11th, 2018 and he just needed to pick when he was going to propose. Michael had a big day planned mid January, but Rhiannon claims she messed it all up because her car broke down and she told him they would be going to the city to find her a car. They spent the entire day shopping for a car and after buying one, they were both so exhausted, they just wanted to go home. Once they were home, Michael asks Rhiannon to stay in the car and claimed he needed to get something to take to his mom's. At some point, Michael had set up a surprise in their home including a n
